Beckham may not feature in Milan-United clash

David Beckham has declared that it is "not important" if he does not feature in Tuesday night's Champions League blockbuster between Milan and Manchester United.

Much of the build-up to the knockout clash at San Siro has centred on the England hero, who won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a European crown during his time at Old Trafford.

The veteran midfielder is now in the midst of a second loan spell in Italy's fashion capital, having left Los Angeles Galaxy in the hope of boosting his World Cup claim.

"I am very well at Milan, I am very happy to be back in Milan, it's a top team and I can play at the top level," Beckham said after the Rossoneri's 3-2 win over Udinese.

But while he is enjoying himself in Serie A, the former Real Madrid star is hardly a first-team fixture under Leonardo, and there is speculation that he could miss out against his old club.

But the man himself is not concerned: "It's not so important if I did not play tonight and if I won't play Tuesday, even if I would like to do it, obviously. The most important thing is that Milan will qualify [to the Champions League quarter-finals].

"It's not so important how many games I will play, but that Milan win like tonight. When I came here I knew the situation and my role here, I am working very hard in order to be ready."

One big name certain to be absent from the team sheets is that of United legend Ryan Giggs, who is laid up with a broken elbow.

Beckham added: "It's a shame that Giggs could not play Tuesday, I am very disappointed for that."
