The biggest name to move to the US after Pele, Franz Beckenbauer and Johan Cryuff in the early 70's and 80's, Beckham still looks doubtful to make his debut for LA Galaxy on July 21 when they take on Chelsea.
He's yet to recover fully from an ankle injury he picked up while playing for England.
"My decision was made up in the fact that I wanted a new challenge and I wanted an involvement in making soccer bigger in America and I believe that I can do that in a way. People have their doubts but I don't have doubts, I'm looking forward to the challenge. I know the players who played there in the past, a lot of those players were there just to play football, to play soccer. My reason to go out to America is not just to play for the Galaxy, it's a wider look on soccer," Beckham said.
