Munich: It's raining beer in Germany where FIFA World Cup fans have breweries across Germany straining to meet their demand for beer.

All the streets in Munich are lined with open-air beer gardens right where the famous Bavarian beer halls are located.

The Bavarian beer halls are a tradition that date back to the 15th century and this is where Adolf Hitler had his first meeting.

"In this World Cup, beer has been the great leveler. Whether you win or lose, sharing beer with friends can drive the blues away," says a football fan.

It's a crazy beer fest in Munich. Even before the World Cup began, the amount of beer consumed in Germany had jumped by eight per cent. Now it's at 33 per cent.

"We have sold as much beer in two days as we normally sell in two weeks. 400 litres of beer is being sold everyday," says one brewery owner.

In October, the city calls for the grand beer fest. However, looking at the way things are going, there might not be any beer left till October.

"This is how we do it in America. You stack one glass after the other. I have drunk two litres just in ten minutes," says another fan.

Germany may have lost in the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup, but they have won in the business where everyone is drinking.
