New Delhi: Thanks to a galloping economy and the India Rising phenomenon, high-end private jets are becoming tools and not toys.
The flying machines are not just for passengers who have the money, but also for those who are short on patience and time when it comes to commercial airlines.
In the league of sleek jets is the Rs 180-crore private jet—Gulfstream IV that offers luxury, status, style besides wine and caviar on menu as you fly.
No wonder the makers say that first-class is for beggars.
Ultra posh private jets are no longer a fantasy for the super-rich passengers.
“People who fly for more than 300 hours a year should own a plane,” suggests Indo Pacific Aviation, the company that sells luxury private jets.
''We take you right from the time you decide to buy a plane to actual acquisition, the import the operations, the maintenance. Even when you decide to sell the jet, we help you sell it,” CEO, Indo Pacific Aviation Captain Karan Singh said.
The small private plane brims with discrete luxury. A look at the interior shows hand stitched ‘Napa’ leather spread all over. The carrier has Mahogany veneer tables and leather couches that mutate into grand comfort and style.
Owning the Rs 180 crore jet means a fixed costs of Rs 40 lakhs a month that includes pilot’s salary, insurance and landing/parking charges. The variable costs like fuel and navigation add a little more—about Rs 1 lakh for an hour!
If you flew 400 hours a year and chartered for 200, your flying would be free! It can be worth it if you don't want to be at the mercy of airlines, and you can't stand the losers in first class!
