Jaspal Rana spoke to CNN-IBN's Digvijay Singh Deo after winning gold in the 25m standard pistol event.
Digvijay Singh Deo: It's been a long journey, this is your fourth Asian Games. The fire is still there isn't it?
Jaspal Rana: It's very much there, and I'm here because I was capable of winning the medal, and I did it.
Digvijay Singh Deo: It's been a difficult competition for you, hasn't it? You are not well, you have a viral infection. How difficult was it to concentrate out there when you were shooting?
Jaspal Rana: It was definitely tough, because the competition in the Asian Games is tough anyway. On top of that I wasn't well and when I came to the range, it was raining and the weather was bad. Maybe because of that, I was more conscious and I said to myself that 'enough is enough. Just concentrate on your technique because there isn't much more I can do.' If I'm not well it won't be an excuse.
So I focussed a lot on my technique and I was just looking at the sights. Maybe a lot of people didn't realise how bad the weather was that we couldn't even see the sight properly. But luckily I did it from the last two series (rounds). Maybe being unwell helped me in a way.
