Benazir, Nawaz divided even as combined opposition force

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Pakistan's opposition has finalised a charter of demands for President Pervez Musharraf.

However, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif have been unable to agree on one key issue – whether Musharraf should be asked to restore the deposed supreme court judges.

Neither side gave details of the charter but PML-N leader Ishaq Dar did hint at differences on this score.

The PPP and PML-N are also reportedly divided on which constitution to restore – the constitution as of October 1999, when Sharif was ousted in a coup by Musharraf – or the constitution as of November 3 this year, when emergency was imposed.

The 15-point draft charter will now be presented to the top leaders.

On Monday, Bhutto and Sharif had warned that they could boycott the elections if Musharraf did not meet their demands.
