New Delhi: Benazir Bhutto's husband Asif Ali Zardari is a completely shattered man following her wife's assassination on Thursday in Rawalpindi.
He told CNN-IBN that the people who planned the first assassination attempt during Benazir's homecoming procession in October in which more than 150 people were killed must be behind the Rawalpindi attack too.
"Whoever was behind the first assassination attempt is behind this attempt as well. Benazir claimed that Musharraf was behind her, nobody can change that position," Asif Ali Zardari said.
"She came to save Pakistan and they killed Benazir. She has left a dying declaration which has been published in USA," Zardari said.
Referring to the ruling establishment of Pakistan, Zardari said: "They killed her."
Meanwhile, former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif also said that Benazir's assassination was a premeditated killing.
He also accused the Pakistan government of not attempting to step up security for him even Benazir's assassination.
"We have announced boycotting the elections because under such circumstances elections are meaningless. It is a futile exercise. What elections? Who is going to venture out to campaign under these circumstances? Government is completely indifferent to the security of the political party leaders. It was a target killing and there is no doubt about it. Why was an armed man allowed to venture so close to her? No security arrangement has been made for me but I intend to live here, in this country. Why should I move out?" an agitated Sharif asked.
