New Delhi: It is that time of the year when you need to dig into your closets for winter clothing.
And to give a few tips on how to retain that hot factor in winters was none other than Chairman of Benetton, Luciano Benetton, who flew down to the Capital.
The occasion was the launch of a high-end fashion brand of Benetton-Sisley in India. So how exactly is Sisley different from Benetton?
“If trendy clothes for parties is what you want, then Sisley’s what you need,” explained Luciano.
But a close inspection revealed that the clothes seemed to be a clone of the mother brand with the agressive colour tone of Benetton making splashes here and there.
The colour palette was mostly subdued with the vintage look making a comeback on the ramp -- the tapered trousers and streamlined silhouettes. Overall, the collection seemed a bit stale.
With the arrival of fashion giants like Versace and Valentino in India, will Benetton be able to retain its hold?
“We have been with all those brands in the International market. So there is no specific strategy for India,” said Luciano.
So how does this Italian house weigh India on the global fashion scale?
“Well, the fashion element is veritably growing big in India. That’s the reason why so many big brands are targeting this market,” he added.
