Kolkata: In a bid to counter Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's sit-in in New Delhi on Monday against FDI in retail, Bengal Congress has planned a rally here the same day to back the central government's economic reforms.
"We will be organising a rally in the city in favour of retail FDI and economic reforms. We will inform the masses that these decisions were taken for the development of the nation and Trinamool is trying to confuse the masses," said Omprakasah Mishra, general secretary, West Bengal Congress.
Banerjee, who recently walked out of the United Progressiv Alliance over economic reforms, including decisions on allowing FDI in retail and diesel price hike, is organising a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

We will be organising a rally in Kolkata in favour of retail FDI and economic reforms, West Bengal Congress said.
