Kolkata: The West Bengal Congress wants to part ways with the Trinamool Congress. West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday decided to write a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi urging her to permit the state unit to quit the West Bengal Cabinet.

The West Bengal Congress Legislative Party resolved that the party is finding it uncomfortable to be a part of the Mamata Banerjee government under the present circumstances.

The resolution adopted said that Congress should announce the name of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as its Presidential candidate and Mamata Banerjee's actions after her meeting with Sonia Gandhi was condemnable.

The Congress MLAs have decided to oppose the state government policies which they find erroneous on the floor of the Assembly. Till now the Congress had refrained from opposing the policies inside the Assembly and has voiced its reservation to protests on the streets.
