Kolkata: The West Bengal government on Monday said it will look into the legal implications of Centre's ban on CPI-Maoist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act to ascertain if it was binding on it.
Chief Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty said legal experts are being consulted in this regard.
"Only then can we inform you if the Centre's decision is binding on the state government," Chakraborty said in Kolkata.
The state government's decision, he said, however, would not be taken at the administrative level.
"Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will discuss the Centre's decision with his Cabinet colleagues," he said.
