New Delhi: Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma on Monday accused Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in the Lok Sabha of having links with terrorists. Speaking in Parliament, Beni Prasad said that after Godhra riots, the SP fought the Gujarat polls along with BJP and helped Modi come to power.
"After the Godhra riots, the Samajwadi Party fought the election in Gujarat and helped Modi win. Terror has no religion but I can say confidently that Mulayam Singh supported terrorism," Beni Prasad said.
Following Beni Prasad's statements, there was an uproar in the House. The SP MPs demanded an apology from Beni Prasad over his statement.
Beni had made the allegation at a public meeting in his constituency Gonda on Saturday as well. The SP, which is an ally of the UPA, is demanding his expulsion from the Cabinet.
