Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's friendship with Sahara Group chief Subroto Roy is no secret.
On Monday, the Chief Minister came out openly in support of the business house in its ongoing courtroom battles with Jet Airways and levelled serious allegations against the aviation major.
"Sahara ko bardbad kar diya. Machines khol diya. (They have destroyed Sahara. Opened the machines of the planes)," an infuriated Mulayam alleged.
He didn't spare the Centre either. He accused the Manmohan Singh Government of harassing industrialists on the Uttar Pradesh Development Council, which is headed by Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh.
"UP Development Council ke members ke yahan chape mare ja rahe hai (They are raiding the houses of members of UP Development Council)."
With Mulayam coming out openly in support of the Sahara Group, it is now clear that the corporate war between the two big players of the sky is now slowly taking political overtones.
The Congress has reacted sharply to the allegations. "Mulayam should offer evidence to prove his charges. The government at the Centre doesn't discriminate against anybody," Akhilesh Pratap Singh, chief spokesperson of UP Congress, said.
