Security men were all outside the jail as inmates had taken control of the cells inside. Inmates have been apparently protesting ill treatment by jail authorities. They have also complained of lack of facilities. It is also reported that one prisoner committed suicide on Saturday.
Internal wards and guards had been chased away by the prisoners and the prisoners were on a dharna at the main gate on the Beur jail.
