Bhanwari Devi case: Trial set to begin today

Jodhpur: The trial in the Bhanwari Devi abduction and murder case is expected to begin on Monday in the SC/ST court. The special court (SC/ST cases) on Tuesday, March 27, after the committal of the matter from the CBI court during the last hearing, extended the judicial custody of all the 10 accused till April 2 to coincide with those of Sohan Lal Bishnoi, Shahabuddin and Balia.

With charge-sheet filed against all the 13 by the CBI, and the court taking cognizance of it, the long awaited trial of the case is all set to commence.

Mahipal Maderna, Paras Ram Bishnoi, Malkhan Singh Bishnoi, Amarcahand, Umesh Ram Bishnoi, Sahi Ram Bishnoi and Kailash Jakhar were produced in the Special court (SC/ST cases) on Tuesday.

With chargesheet filed against all 13 accused by the CBI, and the court taking cognizance of it, the long awaited trial of the case is all set to commence.

However, Bishna Ram Bishnoi, Ashok Bishnoi and Om Prakash Bishnoi could not appear in the court as all the 3 were on production warrant in some other matter.

On the other hand, the judicial custody of Pukh Raj, Dinesh and Reshma Ram was extended till April 9.

The CBI has kept the investigation pending and is in the process of filing the charge-sheet against the three. They were produced in the CBI court. The agency has not yet been able to find Indra Bishnoi.

On the other hand, the DNA report of the burnt bones, suspected to be of Bhanwari, obtained from the canal in Jaloda has not yet been received by the CBI either.
