New Delhi: Bharti Yadav, the prime witness in the Nitish Katara murder case, has now set certain conditions before she arrives in India to depose in the court. Bharti has promised to appear before the court on November 25.
Among other things, Bharti wants her regular passport to be released so that she can go back to the UK after deposing in the court.
Bharti Yadav's counsel has also requested court to ensure confidentiality of her London address and to prevent her testimony from being made public.
She also wants her whereabouts to be kept under wraps after her arrival in Delhi.
She has asked for an in-camera trial and protection from the media. Another demand includes freedom from surveillance.
She has also asked the court not to allow Nitish Katara's mother Neelam Katara to meet her.
Bharti, daughter of UP politician D P Yadav, had repeatedly ignored previous court summons before she finally gave an undertaking to come to India.
The prosecution has offered her with an emergency certificate to facilitate her arrival in India in lieu of her revoked passport. Bharati's counsel has objected to the move and has sought a regular passport. Bharti's visa expires on November 30 and she has to apply for its extension for her further stay in UK. For that, her passport has to be issued again.
The court will now hear the matter on October 16. Bharti's counsel has submitted before the court that she wants to apply for visa renewal 21 days in advance before its expiry. The court had directed Bharti to appear before it on November 25 for her deposition and had asked External Affairs and Home Ministries to inform on formalities for her travel to India. It had also kept in abeyance proclamation notice issued against Bharti.
Bharti's brother and cousin Vikas and Vishal are accused of kidnapping and murdering Nitish with whom she allegedly had an intimate relationship.
