New Delhi: Suspended Gujarat IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt's bail hearing has been adjourned till Wednesday. Bhatt earlier on Tuesday refused to accept police remand for few hours as suggested by a metropolitan court.
The court had proposed Bhatt to accept the remand for few hours before the bail matter could be decided. Bhatt refused the suggestion stating that it was a battle of principles.
The suspended officer was arrested on September 30 on charges of fabricating evidence and wrongful confinement. The arrest came after police constable KD Pant alleged that Bhatt had forced him to file a false affidavit against Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Pant on Tuesday claimed that he was in Mumbai on the day Modi allegedly chaired the February 27, 2002 meeting. "I was under no pressure whatsoever to file a complaint against Sanjeev Bhatt. I did not accompany Bhatt to that meeting. I had been to Mumbai for the visa work of my nephews," Pant said.
