Mumbai: FTII graduate Sidharth Sinha's graduate film in Bhojpuri has won the prestigious Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival this year. At a screening organised for cinephiles in Mumbai by the German consulate, Sidharth said he's still a little surprised that his first film has made such impact.
"I am still stunned by the reaction that my film earned at the Berlin Film Festival, since Bhojpuri isn't even an optional language, and it proved difficult to enter," says he.
And the story only gets better for the Ghazipur-born boy who is now directing a Hindi feature film with mainstream actors.
Although tight lipped about the banner, the stars involved and all other details, Sidharth's clearly excited about the fact that doors open easily for him now.
"Now producers are more open to meeting me and interacting with me, which is a good sign," says he.
Here's hoping his feature film too matches the kudos that his graduate project won.
