Military school denies Malegaon involvement

Nashik: The Bhonsala Military School (BMS) in Nashik has been under the scanner of the anti-terror squad (ATS) for its alleged involvement in the Malegoan serial blasts case which killed 6 people and its commandant has been taken to Mumbai by the ATS.

CNN-IBN's Toral Varia spoke to the General Secretary of the BMS, Divakar Kulkarni.

He says the school had merely rented out some space to Abhinav Bharat, a Hindutva extremist organisation and had no other connection whatsoever with the outfit.

Diwakar Kulkarni: Many students have passed out from BMS. Many have been selected in the army. But, till date you'll not find anyone who's become a criminal. As far as the blast issue is concerned, we had given Abhinav Bharat our grounds for the meeting. There is nothing more than that. Our commandant is their friend. So he asked the organisation (BMS) to give them the ground. What happened in the meeting, the organisation doesn't know.

About the two detentions, ATS didn't tell us anything. Till date there has been no communication from them. The organisation does not have anything to do with the blasts.

Toral Varia: Were the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) cadres given militant training in the school?

Diwakar Kulkarni: BMS doesn't have anything to do with it. We'd only given them the land. BMS is not involved in any training.

Toral Varia: Will the Bhonsala Military School give legal backup to the commandant, Colonel (Retd) SS Raikar or Rajen Gaydane.

Diwakar Kulkarni: Bhonsala Military School will totally support them. We will give every possible legal backup.
