Bhupathi-Knowles win Swiss Indoor tournament

New Delhi: Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles won the ATP Swiss Indoor tournament in Basel on Sunday beating Christopher Kas and Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany.

The Indo-Bahamas duo won the final that lasted 61 minutes in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

With the win, the two have improved their track record this season to 36-16.

Bhupathi and Knowles have already qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.

Meanwhile, world No. 2 Roger Federer won the Swiss Indoors final for the third straight year on Sunday.

The Swiss player beat second-seed David Nalbandian of Argentina 6-3, 6-4 in the men’s singles final.

The 27-year-old Swiss broke to lead 4-2 in the first set and again in the third game of the second set.

In the second set, Federer hit a backhand cross-court winner to break Nalbandian and lead 2-1.

Federer, who only conceded two points in a service game once, closed out the match with a forehand winner behind a big serve.

Meanwhile, India's Rohan Bopanna and his Belarussian partner Max Mirnyi lost in the Men's doubles final of the St Petersburg Open. Bopanna and Mirnyi lost to Travis Parrott and Filip Polasek 6-3, 6-7, 8-10.
