The ancestral home of the Bhutto family is being decked up to receive her. Flags and buntings have been put up. It will be an emotional moment when she prays at the grave of her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
But the shadow of another suicide attempt will stalk her throughout her journey from Karachi.
Bhutto says, ”Well it's very difficult to say so but yes maybe when I go to Larkana my home town there could be another attempt on me. I have had several threats - one is Larkana, second one I was informed by some friends that when I went to Islamabad some one attack me and the third one was that someone would butcher me like an anima.”
Speculation that talks with General Musharraf are not going well. At a meeting of his party faithful in Islamabad, Musharraf accused her of irresponsibility in blaming the attack on the government. He said the next prime minister would be from his own party the PML-Q.
Pakistan Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao says, “I don't think anyone is going to win an election coalition. We will have to see the situation. “
Clearly, any talk at this point of Benazir and Musharraf sharing power is premature.
There is also speculation in sections of the Pakistani media that US increasingly sees Benazir as a divisive figure and may change horses at the last minute.
