Big B claims he was sold UP land on fake papers

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: On the back foot over land deals, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan says it wasn't him but a man who held his power of attorney who forged the documents for the Barabanki farmland in Uttar Pradesh.

So far Amitabh's best attempts to get rid of the farmer's tag doesn't seem to be working out on the ground.

CNN-IBN now has a copy of a letter, which was written by Amitabh to the Juhu police station complaining against the man who initially told him that he owned land in Barabanki. Later on it was discovered that the man was a fake.

"A Vijay Kumar Shukla used to come to me in Mumbai as an ardent admirer. He was the one who told me that my family owned some land in Barabanki in UP. Later he came to me at my Jalsa residence in Mumbai and told me that he wanted to sell me some more land, which he owned in Barabanki. Since I had no reason to disbelieve him as he had shown me valid papers I agreed. He asked me to grant a power of attorney in favour of his brother Vinay Kumar Shukla. Later I found in media reports that all certificates, which he had shown me, were false. He also gave my residential address as 17 Clive Road, Allahabad which was wrong, since he knew that I was staying in Mumbai," Amitabh said.

That is a shift of stand on the actor's part because earlier, in an exclusive interview with our chief political correspondent Bhupendra Chaubey, Amitabh had claimed that he was in fact a victim of politics.
