New Delhi: Bollywood superhero Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday said that the astrological defects attributed to his to-be-daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai is all media creation. Talking about Rai, the Big B said: "She is a lot simpler than what is made out of her. She's a very simple girl, very traditional."
Asked about the marriage plans, he said: "We have not yet decided what kind of a marriage it is going to be. Once we decide, we will work on invitations."
As for the date of the Aishwarya-Abhishek marriage, he said things were still being worked out with Aishwarya's parents in this regard. Asked whether they would be man and wife by the time of their world tour in July, he said: "Let us hope so. If not, they will certainly be traveling together as husband and wife-to-be."
He also put at rest speculation over the Bachchan family's take on their prospective daughter-in-law continuing to act after marriage. "It is something that has to be decided by Aishwarya and Abhishek. There is absolutely no problem from my side," he said.
"She can act with any one she wants. It is for her to decide," the legendary actor said.
The Big B scotched rumours that Jaya Bachchan might contest the forthcoming elections as an SP candidate. "Jaya will not stand for any elections," he said. When asked about himself, the Big B said: "I was not qualified for politics."
The senior Bachchan could not stop praising his son's outstanding performance in Mani Ratnam's latest movie called Guru. " I am very proud of Abhishek for his performance in Guru," he said, adding "Abhishek was never in my shadow."
