Allegedly a victim of human sacrifice, Golu was beheaded. The police recovered his body on Sunday from a field in Masuarhi.
“Isko bali diya gaya hai. Iska kesh mud kaar iska sar kaat kaar alag kaar diya hai (He has been sacrificed. He was tonsured and beheaded),” says a villager, Anil Kumar.
Golu's father says that his son was picked from a room during a puja for sacrifice by one of his relatives.
“Is ghatna ke piche Hasanpura ke Sitaram Mahto aur unka pariwar, sath hi unki ghar ke mahila sadasya bhi involved hai (Sitaram Mahto of Hasanpura and his family including the women members are involved in this case),” says officer-in-charge of Masuarhi thana, Sanjay Kumar.
Away from the world of reason this is an ugly face of illiteracy and superstition.
