Aurangabad: A family in Bihar's Aurangabad town has claimed that a nine year-old-boy of Indian origin found in London by the police was Sintu, who was kidnapped nearly three years ago in the city.
For last two days, the family has been glued TV, keeping a close watch on all updates on Gurrinder Singh who was abandoned at a Gurudwara in London.
The family claims Gurrinder resembles Sintu, their son who was abducted in March 2005 when he was six years old.
"The boy who has been found in London is my son. He looks just like him,” insists Sintu’s mother, Bindiya Devi.
Sintu was abducted from near Sadar police station on March 3, 2005 when he was playing outside his house.
Police lodged an abduction case but could not make any breakthrough. Though the boy found in London is wearing a Sikh-style turban, the family is sure it’s their son. They claim the facial features of the boy are uncannily similar to Sintu.
Says Sintu’s grandfather, Ganga Prasad, "Our relatives called to tell us they are flashing Sintu’s pictures on TV.”
The family suspects after being kidnapped, Sintu may have been sold off to a childless non-resident Indian couple and was taken to London.
They have now sought the help of the state and central government to get back their child.
"I have requested Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and State Police Chief A R Sinha to help bring the boy back from London," says Ganga Prasad.
Sources also tell CNN-IBN that Bihar DG has approached the Indian High Commission in London regarding the matter.
However, a confirmation from London is awaited.
Backgrounder: It was reported that the Sikh boy, Gurrinder Singh, was found abandoned at a clinic in London by the police. Official sources in the state home department said the state police would approach the Central Government in New Delhi to help identify the boy.
