Madhepura (Bihar): Cell phone is an essential nuisance for many, but in this flood devastated North Bihar where all modes of communication are snapped cell phone is the only working lifeline.
All major rescue and relief operations are being coordinated through cell phones and relatives of those trapped are banking on mobile phones to remain in touch with their near and dear ones.
The water has washed away everything in sight. But a few mobile towers are still standing high in the flooded waters keeping connectivity alive.
However, it seems that this lifeline is slipping off the hands of people too. With power scarcity in these areas there is no means left to recharge the cell phones and people mostly keep their phones switched off
“We keep our cells off. We only switch them on when the need arises and then subsequently switch them off,” says Monu Kumar
However, the small technological wonder has performed a task bigger than what was expected from it, helping save precious human lives.
