Bihar Governor cleans up Patna's streets

Patna: The Governor of Bihar, who is a Maharstrian by origin, is trying hard to clean up the capital of Bihar.

Governor RS Gavai and his wife Kamla Tai are sweeping the streets in Patna. Far from all the controversy created by Raj Thackeray's party and his supporters attacking Biharis in Maharashtra, the two Maharashtrians are on a mission to clean up the Bihar's capital.

"Chhath means neat and clean Bihar. So it should always be neat and clean. We will start a movement to ensure it," Gavai says.

Gavai hits the streets early in the morning, carrying brooms and spades. The entire Raj Bhawan staff joins the couple. Even the security staff shed their guns and pick up brooms.

"Cleaning is my job. So I am not doing anything extraordinary," Kamla Tai says.

A M by origin and a Bihari by profession, Bihar Governor RS Gavai is trying to bridge the Bihar-Maharashtra divide that Raj Thackeray has created. And cleaning the streets of Patna with brooms in his hands is just the beginning.

"Even if the person is a minister or some rich guy living in a big house, all will feel ashamed and come out," Gavai adds.
