Patna: Maoists kidnapped four Bihar Police officials during a gunbattle in Lakhisarai district on Sunday and have been demanding the release of their eight comrades in lieu of the abducted men. The four policemen who have been kidnapped are Rupesh Kumar Sinha, Lokus Tete, Mohammad Ehsaan and Abhay Prasad Yadav.
Rupesh Kumar Sinha is a resident of Bettiah in Bihar. He is the only son of his parents and the sole bread winner of his family. He is a trainee Sub Inspector with Bihar Police. Tete is with the Bihar Military Police and hails from Koleibera in Jharkhand's Simdega district.
Hawaldar Mohammad Ehsaan is a father of four children and hails from Goregaon village in Jharkhand while Abhay Prasad Yadav is the officer in-charge of the Manikpur outpost. Yadav's wife and daughter live in Patna.
Bihar government hopes to secure the release of all the four police officials kidnapped by Maoists by Thursday evening. Bihar government sources told CNN-IBN that local level discussions have been initiated with the Maoists and the deadline for the safe release of the four policemen has been extended. The sources also claimed that all the abducted policemen were safe.
