Bihar: Man loses 5 family members in Rajya Rani train tragedy

Khagaria: The Rajya Rani Express spelled tragedy for many families on Monday and one man, Raju Yadav, lost five relatives in the accident. His ageing parents, his young daughter, son and nephew, all died after being run over by the speeding Rajya Rani express in Khagaria. "I have lost my parents, daughter, son and nephew in this tragedy," he said.

At least 28 people were killed in the tragic incident and some of the survivors have been crippled for life. Nageshwar Ram is the sole bread winner in his family. Lying in the hospital, he wondered how he will work in the fields to support his family with one limb missing.

"We had just alighted from the train. There were many people. Suddenly the Rajya Rani Express train came. We didn't hear the train blowing its horn," he said recalling the horror.

There are many such families as anxious relatives of victims and survivors throng the mortuary and hospital, waiting to collect the bodies or running to fetch medicines. They say that no amount of money can compensate them for their irreparable losses.

For the grief stricken families, Rajya Rani is one name that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
