Bihar: Police tie, drag mentally-challenged man on the streets

In a shocking incident, a mentally-challenged and injured man was tied and then dragged mercilessly on the streets of Purnia in Bihar by some Government Railway Police officials.

The man identified as 40-year-old Gyanendra Choudhary, a native of Nepal, was injured while crossing the railway tracks and had been admitted to the district hospital by GRP officials.

But he fled from the hospital and after which the police started to look for him. After finding him, the police tied him with ropes, dragged him on the road and finally loaded him on to a tempo.

He had run away from his home in Saptari near the Indo-Nepal border. He was injured while trying to cross the railway tracks after getting off the Jogbani-Katihar passenger train in Purnia.

The shocking visual were captured by a passer-by on his mobile phone.

Initially senior police officials denied the incident but they ordered a probe after the video became public.
