Patna: Former chief minister and Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Yadav's wife Rabri Devi's worked hard to ensure she is victorious. Today's (Thursday) polling will decide her political future. She is the only politician who is contesting for two seats - Raghopur in Vaishali and Sonepur in Saran, both Yadav bastions and winning is crucial.
"People of Sonepur wanted me to contest elections form here. So I am doing it," said Rabri Devi.
The entire family has been on its toes since then. Rabri has campaigned door to door with her debutant son Tejeshwi completely ignoring campaigning for the other RJD candidates. Husband Lalu has done road shows in the evening and of course back room management. The entire Yadav family has been on the job.
For Rabri, the door to door visits yielded promises of votes, but also sarees, gold earrings and money was given out as a good omen by residents who treat her as the daughter-in-law of the area.
Over 35 per cent of Raghopur and Sonepur residents are Yadavs, and Rabri Devi's victory here will be the beginning of the Lalu Yadav family's quest to reclaim Bihar.
