Bihar: Sushil Modi denies Opposition's scam charge

Patna: Rubbishing the Opposition's charge of scam and irregularity in Bihar in respect of non-reconciliation of contingency bills, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said reconciliation of funds was yet to be done.

Out of Rs 24,243 crore of the amount withdrawn from treasuries in Bihar between 2002-2011 through Abstract Contingent (A/C) bills, the reconciliation of funds of Rs 7,388 crore was yet to be done through submission of Detailed Contingent (D/C) bills in Bihar, he told reporters.

He said D/C bills of Rs 16,854 crore withdrawn from the treasuries had already been handed over to the office of the principal comptroller here and Rs 11274 crores had already been adjusted through submission of Detailed Contingency (D/C) bills.

Sushil Kumar Modi lashed out at Lalu Prasad for his allegation against poor capital investments during the NDA rule in Bihar.

The withdrawal of the rest Rs 7,388 crore would be reconciled or adjusted soon, he said.

The system of withdrawal of funds through A/C bills was being done away with gradually and now treasuries have been asked to take care of reconciliation of the A/C bills with D/C bills as per Bihar Treasury Act 2011, he said.

Modi lashed out at RJD supremo Lalu Prasad for the latter's allegation against poor capital investments during the NDA rule in Bihar.

He claimed Prasad had opened a show room in Naxal-affected area in Aurangabad district, which reflected the improvement in law and order situation in Bihar.
