Bihar: Suspected Maoists attack railway station, abduct two employees

Patna: A group of suspected Maoists on Wednesday attacked Ghorparan station in Bihar's Madhupur-Jhajha section in Eastern Railway's Asansol division and abducted two railway employees.

Station Manager Vijay Kumar and railway porter Dukhan Mahato were abducted at gunpoint at around 8.30 am.

Train services were hit in the section following the attack. The trains which had been detained at various stations include: 18184 Dn Patna-Tata Exp (at Narganjo Stn in Bihar), Dhanbad-Patna Inter City Exp (at Jesidih in Bihar), two Asansol-Jhajha locals (at Lahagan and Madhupur in Bihar respectively), 12317 Up Sealdah Akal Takht Exp (at Asansol, West Bengal), 12318 Dn Sealdah-bound Akal Takht Exp (at Jhajha in Bihar).

Sameer Goswami, PRO Eastern Railways confirmed that the services resumed after a few hours.

The railway officials have informed about the incident to the local police authorities and Superintendent of Police, Jamui.
