JAIPUR: A man was arrested by Sukinda police for lifting two-wheelers and disposing them of in different places with forged documents. Police also recovered nine stolen motorcycles from various areas and seized forged documents from Raj Kishore Mohanty (48) of Bartanda village under Sukinda police limits.
Police said the thief operated in various parts of Jajpur and its neighbouring Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts. Police managed to nab him during a routine check up.
“During a routine checking, we detained two motorcycle riders on Tuesday as their documents, including Registration Certificate (RC) Books,  evoked suspicion. As smart cards are issued in lieu of the obsolete RC books we verified the books with the RTO in Keonjhar and found them forged,” said Kumar Chandra Nayak, OIC of Sukinda police station.
During interrogation, the two detained two-wheeler riders told police that they had purchased the bikes from Mohanty. Based on this, police caught the accused and recovered seven more stolen motorcycles on Wednesday.
Mohanty confessed that he used to steal two-wheelers and sell them in Jajpur and  adjacent districts after preparing forged documents. “We have arrested the main accused, detained three others and are hopeful of more recoveries and arrests,” said the OIC.
