Bindra takes fighter aircraft ride, thrilled

Bangalore: Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra took a spin in the iconic fighter aircraft F 16 at a Bangalore air show earlier on Thursday.

This was Bindra's maiden one hour sortie in a fighter aircraft. He rode tandem with former US Navy pilot Paul Randall

He was given the basic feel of being in a fighter plane. The aircraft flew just below the speed of sound & performed fighter maneuvers at heights of up to 20,000 feet before it returned to the Yellahanka air base.

Bindra, who looked a little unsteady when he landed, said he was thrilled by the ride. He also said that this was his most exhilarating moment.

Indian industrialist Ratan Tata had also flown in an F 16 in 2007.The F16 was in contention for the Indian order for the 126 fighter aircraft, the largest such tender in the world.
