Bhubaneshwar/Jaipur: Kerala Police on Friday confirmed that rape convict Bitti Mohanty forged his B.Tech certificate from KIIT University in Bhubaneswar and the certificate is in the name of Raghav Rajan, the alias he used for several years while living in Kannur in Kerala.
Bitti is currently being taken to Jaipur from Alwar by a Kerala Police team. The police are trying to prove Bitti's identity with his fingerprint records in the 2006 German tourist rape case.
A team of Kerala Police has also begun investigations in Bhubaneswar and will be questioning his father and former Odisha DGP BB Mahanti on Friday. BB Mohanty had on Thursday refused to speak to the media about the case. The police will also visit Bitti's school and college to conclusively establish his identity.
Bitti had been convicted of raping a German tourist in Alwar in 2006. He later jumped parole and went on the run. Bitty was arrested after he was found to be working in a Kerala bank under a false name. He had secured the position and even an MBA degree allegedly using false certificates.
