Cuttack: Kerala Police on Saturday began questioning of rape convict Bitti Mohanty's father BB Mohanty in Cuttack. Earlier there was a delay in questioning the former Odisha DGP as they did not have permission from the Kerala DGP. Bitti's father is being interrogated for his role in helping his son evade arrest for seven years.

Meanwhile, Kerala police say they have enough proof to make a strong case against him. Bitti is being taken back to Kerala from Rajasthan after confirming that he had indeed forged his educational certificates to get the job in State Bank of Travancore.

On Friday, the Kerala police claimed that they had enough proof from jail records in Rajasthan to confirm Bitti's identity.

Bitti was arrested in Kerala on March 8 on a complaint by a bank following an anonymous letter to the bank stating that the probationary officer working as Raghav Rajan was the convicted son of BB Mohanty. Bitti was arrested on charges of impersonation, forgery and cheating in Kunnur district.

Bitty had been hiding from the law ever since he jumped parole in 2006 from Alwar jail in Rajasthan. He was convicted by a local court in Alwar for raping a German tourist in 2006 and was released in November 2006 on parole from Jaipur to meet his ailing mother at Cuttack, Odisha.
