Phulbani: The Congress on Friday accused the BJD-BJP Government in Orissa of failing on all fronts and leaving people insecure during Kandhamal violence.
"Naveen Patnaik’s government failed to provide security and protection to people during Kandhamal violence," senior Congress leader Srikant Jena said in an election meeting at Raikia, one of the worst-affected areas in the riots.
Congress's demand for a CBI probe into Kandhamal riots that followed the killing of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati, was rejected by the state government, he added.
President of Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) K P Singhdeo alleged that the state government failed to use Central funds properly.
Singhdeo said the debt burden had soared to Rs 42,000 crore from Rs 18,000 crore during the nine-year rule of Naveen government due to "wrong" policies.
In the absence of necessary coordination and cooperation betwen BJD and its partner BJP, the government failed to provide good governance, he added.
