New Delhi: The BJP President Rajnath Singh has clearly and loudly stated that all party leaders refrain from going public with the increasing dissent within the party.
Ironically as he was speaking another party stalwart, Yashwant Sinha went public. He quit all party posts of vice president, member of national executive and the charge of the party in Karnataka.
Sinha also goes on to say:
- The party's grass root leaders have been ignored.
- Failed leaders are being promoted.
- Those who were in-charge of campaigning have given themselves a clean chit.
- The principle of collective responsibility for the debacle has not been implemented.
Ostensibly, the BJP did not take his observations lightly, it just took a five minute meeting between party chief L K Advani and Rajnath to seal Sinha's fate when they accepted his resignation.
Sources have told CNN-IBN that the RSS had told Rajnath Singh to set the house in order, after all with voices of dissent growing louder by the day, the party was making itself a laughing stock.
The BJP's decision of not initiating any action against Jaswant Singh or Sudheendra Kulakarni is proof enough that the party doesn’t want to complicate the situation any further. The saffron brigade is exhibiting classic signs of a party unable to get it's act together after a major electoral drubbing.
Will Rajnath's warning serve its desired purpose? Well, only time will tell.
