Jaswant refuses to resign, Raje delays it

New Delhi: The peace mission seemed to have failed in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Darjeeling MP Jaswant Singh refused to quit as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday.

His decision came a day after party senior leaders including Sushma Swaraj went to his house to personally request him to resign from the post.

“I am not going to step down from my post and nor I am going back to the BJP,” said Jaswant.

While the BJP’s battle against Jaswant seem to continue for sometime, the leaders are also trying to bring the party back on track.

Leader of the Opposition LK Advani reportedly promised the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) last week that the party will soon solve all the problems and come out stronger.

The immediate beneficiary of all this crisis is former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje who is trying all attempts to delay her resignation.

“She is unwell but will obey party high commands directive,” said senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu.

The RSS tough talk seems to be working on the rebels as well.

Senior party leader Yashwant Sinha, who was till now expressing unhappiness with Advani, is now singing a different tune.

“I am a committed worker of BJP,” said Sinha.

Even Arun Shourie, who had launched an all out attack against Advani and Rajnath Singh, is reportedly expected to be much milder in his clarification to the BJP.
