New Delhi: The BJP has condemned the attack on Senior lawyer and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan. Bhushan was attacked in his chamber in the Supreme Court on Wednesday by a person who claims to be a member of the Sri Ram Sena.

The BJP has also denied the involvement of its youth wing in the incident.

BJP spokesperson Tarun Vijay said that the BJP is open to a probed as they are not connected with the attack.

"We condemn such incidents. Everyone has a right to say what he wants to say. We are not a banana republic. I don't think there is any link of that guy with us but we are open to a probe," said Tarun Vijay.

BJP member Anurag Thakur backed Vijay's statement saying that the men who assaulted Bhushan were never connected with the BJP.

"We condemn the attack on Bhushan. If there is an opportunity to raise your voice, you shouldn't involve in violence. None of them are a part of BJP Yuva Morcha. It has nothing to do with the attacks. In a democracy, everybody is allowed to speak and that's what he did. Nobody should resort to violence," Thakur said.

Bhushan was allegedly beaten up for his statement which supported a referendum in the Kashmir valley.
