New Delhi: Even as investigations are on in the serial bomb blasts that rocked Bangalore and Ahmedabad last week; the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress are engaged in a bitter political battle.
It's been less than a week when images of BJP MPs flashing money on the floor of the Lok Sabha shocked the entire nation. The MPs had claimed that the Samajwadi Party tried to bribe them for their support during the trust vote.
Now there is another accusation from the BJP with the deputy leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, blaming the ruling coalition for the bomb blasts in the two BJP-ruled states.
According to her it is the Congress that is behind the bomb blasts.
"Till date it is not happened that two BJP-ruled states have been targetted. And that too just four days after the trust vote. Is there a thing like circumstantial evidence in the country or not?" Shushma alleged
"I see a conspiracy behind all this. It was to deflect the attention of the country from the cash for vote allegation and to bring back the Muslim voters in its camp that had gone away from them on the nuclear deal by showing them the fear of the BJP," she said.
The BJP is unhappy as the United Progressive Alliance Government is also considering postponing the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Besides, with eight of the party's MPs now expelled, the BJP has also decided not to press for a vote of no confidence.
The party will, however, lodge a protest with the Speaker on the composition of the committee probing the cash for vote allegation.
On the other hand, Congress is livid at the BJP's latest charge
"How can any responsible political party make such an irresponsible statement? Let us see the statement in its entirety. If required we will take them to court on this," Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari said.
A desperate BJP is now making allegations that it may find difficult to substantiate.
Though there were no immediate trading of charges or blame game after the Bangalore and Ahmedabad blasts but once the dust had settled down there seems to be a complete free for all.
