BJP discusses LS poll strategy for Karnataka

Bangalore: Front ranking leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday discussed the strategy it should adopt in the next month Lok Sabha polls to ensure that it win more number of seats in Karnataka.

The meeting was chaired by senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu and attended by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, National BJP General Secretary Anantkumar and candidates chosen to contest.

They discussed the issues that are to be raised to project the achievements of its government in the state.

“We have discussed the poll strategy. We are planning to release a separate manifesto keeping in mind the interests of the North Karnataka region", state unit President DV Sadananda Gowda told reporters after the meeting.

Leaders, who have been drafted as in-charge of constituencies, also attended the meeting.

BJP has already released a list of 20 candidates in two instalments and would soon be finalising names for the remaining eight seats.

The party on Saturday launched its electioneering by opening the election office in the city.

Addressing the gathering, Yeddyurappa said the outcome of the coming polls is not a referendum on his government, but exuded optimism of winning more seats.

Naidu and Ananthkumar called upon the partymen to work united for the success of the party candidates.
