BJP doubts UPA's commitment to fight terror

New Delhi: Expressing concern over the terrorist incidence continuing unabated, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday doubted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's commitment in the United Nations General Assembly to fight terrorism.

Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the way terrorism was growing unchecked, the party has doubts if the Prime Minister and his party's commitment to fight terror was 'fake'.

''There were empty talks of fighting terror, which was not backed by firm actions on the ground,'' he said.

Rudy said BJP president Rajnath Singh in a statement from Selam in Tamil Nadu stated that the terrorists had started an 'undeclared war' on India.

In the meanwhile, V K Malhotra, BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the Delhi assembly elections said “if terrorists are defended then how can the govt act tough on them, its a serious issue and parliamentary session should be called”.

Taking exception to the attempts to 'negate truth' by a section of the media by raising questions on the actions of the security apparatus and the judiciary, he said it was shameful that questions were raised about the death of a policeman, who had laid down his life in an encounter in Delhi or doubting the reports of Justice Nanavati Commission inquiring into the Godhra train burning incident.

This was part of the diversionary tactics to give an impression that would prefer to welcome terror and terrorists by raising questions on police actions.
