New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled all eight Members of Parliament who defied party whip by cross voting and abstentions during Tuesday's vote of confidence.

BJP President Rajnath Singh said the party was expelling all the MPs who cross voted or were absent during the trust vote.

"We will conduct nation wide protests in light of the incidents that took place in Parliament," Rajnath said about the cash for note incident.

Four MPs were expelled for voting in favour of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government in the confidence motion in Lok Sabha and four for remaining absent.

The MPs expelled are Brijbhushan Sharan Singh (Balrampur), Manjunath (Dharwad), Chandrabhan Singh (Damoh), HT Sangliana (Bangalore north), Manorama (Udipi), Haribhau Rathore (Yeotmal), Babubhai Katara(Dohad) and Somabhai Patel (Surendranagar).

BJP's prime ministerial candidate for the next Lok Sabha elections Lal Krishna Advani said that July 22 would go down as a black day in the history of Parliament.

Advani, charging the Congress-led of winning the trust vote using unfair means, said, "The factor of tarnishing the integrity of Parliament will be the deciding factors in the coming elections. The whole thing is scandalous. The party has decided to go to the people on this issue. I want the Speaker to expedite the investigations in the cash for MP's vote scam."

"It was a tainted victory in Parliament," Advani added and claimed that the UPA would have lost had there been was no cross voting on Tuesday.

"It wouldn't be easy for the government to sail through smoothly till elections," he said.

Advani also took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday where he had said that Advani should change his astrologers.

"I don't know since when the Prime Minister has become interested in astrology," he said.

He also launched a scathing attack on the Central Government over inflation, farmers suicide and Naxal attacks saying its track record in tackling these issue was bad.
