New Delhi: Following in the footsteps of the Congress, it is now the turn of the BJP to rally around farmers.
The party has planned several kisan rallies on Sunday in an effort to convince farmers not to get swayed by the Congress's loan waiver.
Sunday’s rally at Jind in Haryana will be attended by senior party leaders L K Advani, Rajnath Singh and Sushma Swaraj.
In the South, there's another rally organised by the BJP in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh where party veteran Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya will be present to address farmers.
Both the rallies assume significance as they will run virtually counter to the state-level Congress kisan rallies.
The BJP aims to show farmers that the Congress-led UPA’s loan-waiver package would not touch a large section of farmers, especially those who have taken loans from private moneylenders.
