New Delhi: The BJP called for a nationwide strike on Friday to protest against price rise.
The party has asked all traders and industrialists to take part in the strike which will not interrupt traffic.
It's allies in the National Democratic Alliance are also supporting the strike.
The BJP on Thursday demanded a reduction in duties on petrol and disel to control prices. The party also asked the Government to review the price situation on a weekly basis.
On April 24, NDA MPs had formed a human chain outside Parliament, protesting soaring prices of commodities and inflation.
Leader of the Opposition, L K Advani had asked the Government to quit and go for elections if it is unable to control inflation.
"If you can't stop price rise then you should quit and the country should go to polls," Advani was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, adding that the Opposition was "ready" for the challenge.
Alleging that the Government had "failed" on the issue, Advani joined NDA members including leaders like Rajnath Singh, George Fernandes and Manohar Joshi, in forming the chain.
