Jaipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the India Against Corruption (IAC) have almost dared the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan to probe the land deals of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, which was reported by CNN-IBN.
The political reactions began pouring in just hours after CNN-IBN broke the story on Vadra's multiple lands deals in Rajasthan through an investigation showing over 20 massive land purchases in Bikaner.
Anti-corruption crusader-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal dared the Rajasthan Chief Minister to set up a probe. He said, "We can't even expect any fair investigation. If Mr Ashok Gehlot desires to stay as Chief Minister, he has to give a clean chit."
Allegations are that Robert Vadra had inside information on government projects coming up in Bikaner. He unfairly used the information by making large-scale investment in arid agricultural land. His investment based on privileged access turned into Midas touch for the barren land.
And not just Kejriwal, the opposition BJP is now raising its pitch against Vadra and demanding a probe into the role of the government of Rajasthan. Hitting out at the Gandhi family, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, "An unpopular government in Rajasthan has survived the chair of a chief minister by giving sops to a son in law of the Gandhi family."
Despite sharp direct attacks by the BJP and Arvind Kejriwal on Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, virtually daring him to probe Robert Vadra's Bikaner land deals and act, the Chief Minister refused to respond to the allegations his government faces.
