New Delhi: A day after Sudheendra Kulkarni's article lambasting BJP appeared in Tehelka, the BJP distanced themselves from it giving rise to a theory why is the Advani's man doing so?
After the unsuccessful campaign, attempts to recast the BJP, is BJP's self styled iron man trying to blame everyone within the BJP?.
It’s a question being debated by all those who read the article written by his key aide Sudheendra Kulkarni.
An article that accused the second rung of the party leadership being a fractured lot and charged the hardliners of simply alienating the Muslims. Officially, the entire second rung is being dismissive of all the accusations.
Deputy leader of opposition Sushma Swaraj said, "These are Sudheendra's personal views. What do we have to do with them."
Kulkarni had even accused the RSS of not being open enough to new ideas. In 2004, Advani himself had fallen out of favour with the RSS after getting involved in the Jinnah controversy.
Perhaps Kulkarni is voicing all the views which Advani has. Afterall, on many occasions Advani had publicly stated that his position on Jinnah was a golden opportunity missed by the BJP to reach out to the minorities. Kulkarni himself had stated his comments at a BJP executive meet in 2005. All these views are now upsetting the RSS.
RSS leader Ram Madhav said, "It would have been better if all these views would have been raised in the party forum rather than through articles."
At his peak, Advani's strength was to guide the BJP out of crisis situations. Now as he approaches his political sunset, he seems to be apprising the BJP of where the crisis exists.
