Panaji: The Goa BJP is likely to recall its senior leader and Member of Parliament Sripad Naik to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections. The proposal was mooted by the state executive five months back, Naik told PTI, adding he would want to contest from Porvorim constituency, which is a new area formed after delimitation of constituencies.
BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar said it is for the Parliamentary Committee to decide whether to allow Naik to get back to state politics or not. Parrikar said the state executive wanted Naik back in Goa as it would strengthen party's position here.
Naik said the decision on whether to join back state politics or remain in the Centre would be taken on January 12. "It is for High command to decide," he said.

The Goa BJP is likely to recall senior leader and Member of Parliament Sripad Naik to contest the Assembly polls.
Goa is going to polls on March 3. The BJP is in the process of forging ties with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) to form pre-poll alliance and take on Congress-NCP alliance.
